The Sacramentals
472. Which are the chief kinds of scramentals? The chief kinds of sacramentals are:
- first, blessings given by priests and bishops;
- second, exorcisms against evil spirits;
- third, blessed objects of devotion
474. How should we make use of sacramentals? We should make use of the sacramentals with faith and devotion, and never make them objects of superstition.
It is important that you should understand sacramentals are not to be made into objects of superstition. There is a lot of misinformation out there from people who dislike the Church saying we hold idols, which is not the case. Sacramentals serve to remind us of the image portrayed and should always be regarded with faith.
It's easy to slip into superstition, however, so I see how people get the idea that Catholics are superstitious people.
Lesson Thirty-seven
Prayer
488. Why do we make the sign of the cross? We make the sign of the cross to express two important mysteries of the Christian religion, the Blessed trinity and the Redemption.
This lesson was an explanation of prayer. There are two kinds, vocal and mental. It is good to pray sincerely, and with conviction.
God does not always answer our prayers in the specific way we ask of Him, but rather in the way that is best for us.
Lesson Thirty-eight
The Our Father
If you would like, I can retype the explanations for the entire prayer, but it is lengthy so I will simply say that this chapter delves into why the Our Father is one of the most important prayers to know.

Sorry for the delay in posting, I've had really bad eye strain this whole week so I left my laptop in my trunk today during work. Then I waited until hubby came home so I could use his glasses to write this. Man, they help a lot with computer stuff. Not so much walking (or anything requiring motion) or reading, oddly, but super helpful when I'm staring at the computer screen for a while.
Yep, time to get my lame bottom into bed. I'm tired.
I feel really lame for that statement...
Something about going to sleep around eight every night.
